Supporting families with intuitive care, traditional wisdom, and evidence-based guidance through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

The path that led me here…

Hello! My name is Ysabel Uribe, I am the heart behind Lumina Doula.

Birth has been a part of my story for as long as I can remember. I was born into a family of nine children and am the eighth sibling. Each of us born at home, often into the loving hands of our father. Growing up, I was surrounded by stories of birth, strength, and family. When I was five years old, I witnessed the birth of my younger brother. I remember sitting quietly, taking it all in, completely captivated by the experience. That sense of awe has never left me.

In my early twenties, I watched Birth Story: Ina May Gaskin and The Farm Midwives, a film that rekindled my curiosity with birth and planted the seeds for the work I do today. Over time, that curiosity evolved into a calling.

As a full-spectrum doula, I support families through the many transitions of the reproductive journey with compassionate, individualized care. My approach is grounded in the belief that women's bodies hold an innate wisdom and capacity for birth. I trust birth physiology and believe that each person's feelings, intuition, and knowing deserve to be honored throughout the process. My role is not to lead your journey, but to walk beside you—offering support, education, advocacy, nourishment, and care as you make choices that feel right for you and your family.

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, where I studied human anatomy and physiology, providing me with a strong understanding of the body's remarkable design and function. I am a DONA-trained doula and have completed a bilingual Traditional Postpartum Companion certification with Brenda Montana, Renee Camilia, and Berenice. Through their beautiful circle of learning, I deepened my connection to traditional postpartum care, plant wisdom, herbal preparations, limpias, and community-centered healing practices.

I have also attended a Spinning Babies® Foundations one day workshop, which expanded my understanding of pelvic anatomy and comfort measured to assist during labor. I attended an immersive workshop with Elena Tonetti-Vladimirova, where I began exploring the profound relationship between trauma, healing, and birth outcomes. I am currently continuing my studies with Innate Traditions and am working toward certification as an Innate Traditions Postpartum Practitioner, which I anticipate completing in 2027.

Whether I am offering evidence-based education, preparing nourishing meals, sharing herbal remedies, providing hands-on comfort measures, or simply holding space during times of uncertainty, my intention is always the same: to help families feel supported, informed, and deeply cared for.

It is an honor to witness the transformation that unfolds through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I would be honored to walk alongside you during this sacred season of becoming.
